Senior CPI-M leader and former Lok Sabha member Varkala Radhakrishnan died.
He suffered fracture in the ribs which affected the functioning of his lungs, doctors said. His condition deteriorated last night and he died died 26 April 2010 at 9 am,
He is survived by wife, son and two daughters.

84-year-old Varkala V. Radhakrishnan is a member of the 14th Lok Sabha of India and a former speaker of the Kerala Legislative Assembly. He represents the Chirayinkil constituency of Kerala and is a member of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI(M)) political party.
Radhakrishnan is holding the Chirayinkil seat since 1999. An accomplished lawyer-turned-politician, Radhakrishnan hails from Varkala, and he represented the Varkala legislative constituency for several years. Radhakrishnan is an alumnus of Government Law College, Trivandrum.
