In the year 1944, the ICWAI began as a limited company. The body aims to promote and develop the scientific methods for cost and management accountancy.
In 2009, the ICWAI launched a Certificate Course in Accounting Technicians (CAT). The CAT is a one year course and aims to develop the skills of accounting and as well as the practical situations of accounting. It comprises two levels and the person pursuing the certificate has to clear both the examinations to obtain the certificate. The course also consists practical training, computer training, orientation training programs and examinations.
