Krishna Janmashtami also known as “Krishnashtami”,”Saatam Aatham” ,”Gokulashtami”, “Ashtami Rohini”, “Srikrishna Jayanti”, “Sree Jayanthi” or sometimes merely as “Janmashtami”, is a Hindu festival celebrating the birth of Krishna, an avatar of the Hindu deity Vishnu.
Janmashtmi is around the corner. This year, Janmashtami is being celebrated on two different days. Many are celebrating it today, that is, on the 1 of September, 2010. The other half of the world is celebrating the beloved festival tomorrow, on the 2nd of September, 2010.
Dahi Handi usually occurs on the second day of Janmashtami. A clay pot containing a mixture of milk, fruits, oil hangs around 20-30 feet in the air with a rope. Silver coins were hung with a rope, which then distributed prizes to the winners.
Janamashtami celebrated cherish the birth of Lord Krishna. Lord Krishna has put an end to his evil uncle, Kansa in life. Kansa was the uncle of Krishna.
