With the Jammu and Kashmir government revoking its order on transfer of land for the Amarnath shrine, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) called an all-India shutdown on July 3 on Tuesday to protest against it. The VHP also demanded scrapping of subsidy on Haj pilgrimage.
The BJP today said it was not opposed to the 13 non-NDA and non-UPA parties-sponsored ‘Bharat Bandh’ on April 27 but may not support it either as the party has not taken a view.

Tightening screws on the government ahead of the Parliament session reconvening next week, Left parties, spearheading campaign against shooting prices of essential commodities, today held nationwide rallies and scores of their activists courted arrest threatening ”Bharat Bandh” in close rapport with other parties mainly non-UPA and non-NDA as the Centre groped for political consensus to stem price rise.
Mr Prakash Karat of CPM, AB Bardhan of CPI, Lalu Prasad of RJD, Mulayam Singh Yadav of SP and leaders of AIADMK, Telugu Desam, Biju Janata Dal, Rastriya Lok Dal, Indian National Lok Dal, JD(S), Forward Bloc and Revolutionary Socialist party are likely to attend the meeting.

Troubles only seem to be mounting for the UPA government as 13 non-UPA and non-NDA parties are all set for the ‘Bharat Bandh’ scheduled to take place on Tuesday, Apr 27.
