Bhairon Singh Shekhawat Former vice president dead
Bhairon Singh Shekhawat, the former Vice president of India has passed away. He died today at Jaipur after suffering from breathing disorders for the last couple of days. He was admitted to the Swai Man Singh hospital on May 13 and later was shifted to the ICU.
The 87 year old veteran politician passed away today morning and it has been confirmed by superintendent of thehospital Dr Narpat Singh. When his condition worsened today morning, the doctors decided to put him on ventilator support. However, that failed to keep him alive finally.
He is survived by his wife Suraj Kanwar and a daughter.
Bhairon Singh Shekhawat served as vice president from August 2002, when he was elected to a five-year term by the electoral college following the death of Krishan Kant, until he resigned on July 21, 2007, after losing the presidential election to Pratibha Patil.
Shekhawat was a member of the Bharatiya Janat Party at the time of election. He served as the Chief Minister of Rajasthan three times, from 1977 to 1980, 1990 to 1992, and 1993 to 1998.
